“The Illusion of Prohibition” is a provocative documentary that reveals the “underlying pitfalls” of prohibition policies and helps understand the importance of effective regulation.
“I assume that for some in society, this film will uncover a new world that has always existed parallel to our daily lives,” says the documentary’s creator, Roberts Šteinbergs. “We tried to showcase the flaws of prohibition policies from a practical standpoint. For instance, we conducted an experiment to see how easy it is to establish connections in the illegal market.”
Roberts Šteinbergs previously worked for several years on the LTV show “Forbidden Method”, where, with the help of experiments, he exposed the “Central Market cigarette mafia” and the behind-the-scenes of airport taxi drivers. Co-authors of the documentary “The Illusion of Prohibition” are video specialist Ēriks Saksons and drug researcher Kristiāna Diāna Bebre, who have previously collaborated with Roberts in producing the documentary series “Illegal Trip” and the podcast “Street Substances”.
